BLSD Course - For Non-Healthcare Personnel

Course Objective

The course aims to properly train non-healthcare personnel (the so-called "Lay BLSD") to intervene promptly and safely in case of cardiac emergencies. The primary objective is to prevent anoxic brain damage by providing essential skills to effectively recognize and perform life-saving first aid maneuvers and early defibrillation.

Course Content and Skills Acquired

Participants will gain the theoretical and practical skills needed to:

  • Recognize a cardiac arrest promptly
  • Perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR): chest compressions and artificial ventilation
  • Use the Automated External Defibrillator (AED) safely and effectively

The key concept is speed of intervention, which is crucial to significantly increase the survival chances of the affected person.

Certificate

At the end of the course, upon successful completion of the practical test, participants will receive a BLSD Lay Rescuer Certificate issued by AREU Lombardia.
